Part of creating a culture that is innovative is accepting the world has changed and being ready to move forward and accept new and more change is on the horizon.
At BeyondCurious, we like to say we make elephants run meaning we work with large organizations to accelerate digital transformation of their business models, capabilities, customer experiences, and cultures. This week, at SEAT Atlanta 2017, surrounded by so many amazing digital innovators in the sports & entertainment industry I’m reminded that organizations can claim they are innovative but in the end, it comes down to not only what they do but how they go about doing it. And, the ability to create change is cultural.
I’m excited that this week we’re making innovation actionable by launching a 6-week intensive accelerator program to transform how sports franchises engage with their fans-during game time and beyond. And what do we mean by that? Well, a few things. We want to empower sports franchises to deliver an experience that is meaningful and personalized to fans. For example, by harnessing new technologies we can show their fans where they are sitting in the arena, but we can take that a step further. Innovation allows us to use our imagination to take us anywhere and make anything possible. What if we could also show fans who is sitting around them and how close they are to the opposing team. After all, no one wants to be the only fan in competitor territory. We’re not just spouting off terms like AI-we’re helping to find the ROI. What if fans could see the shortest line for concessions or for restrooms-those are happy and connected fans who are immersed in an experience.
At the end of the day, it’s about focusing on the human experience.
Technology is there to make that experience extraordinary but it’s still about serving a customer. Whether that’s enabling employees or serving customers it’s about connecting people. We can’t lose sight of the human experience. Looking forward, when you think about the level of change through technology competitive competition, customer expectations, or even policy change around data and privacy-the companies that will thrive are the ones that adapt to that change because technology makes it possible to do bigger better bolder things.
But, you also must capitalize on that change and you can’t do that if you’re moving too slowly and standing still waiting on the perfect answer.
Our goal at BeyondCurious is to help our clients navigate through the change to bring insight and intelligence made possible through technology and insights from within the organization and serving that that up in a way it’s actionable so they can move fast.
So, stay curious! And embrace the fear that is making change within your organization. It’s scary to change and get ownership on board but you’ll see big pay off by doing something new and innovative that will be a game changer.
