Infinite Intelligence. Fading Originality.

by Nikki Barua
Jul 13, 2025

We are drowning in intelligence and starving for meaning.

One prompt can surface insight, generate content, and simulate creativity in seconds. The friction between idea and execution has all but disappeared.

As the tools get faster, we are engaging less with the slower, more personal work of creation. The kind of work that starts with inner reflection rather than an instant prompt.

In The War of Art, Steven Pressfield writes about the concept of resistance. It's the invisible force that rises whenever we sit down to do something meaningful. It shows up as hesitation, distraction, or the sudden urge to check something quick before we begin.

Now, AI offers a new kind of resistance that feels deceptively productive. It gives us answers before we’ve formed our own questions. It generates output before we’ve clarified intent.

But when we allow AI to do the thinking for us, we begin to lose something essential: the ability to create from lived experience, to share from memory, to express with feeling.

The quiet, imperfect work we do with intention is what keeps us human. Let that muscle atrophy, and we don’t just lose our creativity, we lose our humanity.

Why p
assive consumption weakens our creative edge

TRENDS

Infinite AI output is dulling our creative instincts and crowding out original thought.

Here’s what the numbers tell us:

  • AI-generated content is exploding: Over 15 billion images were created using GenAI tools like Midjourney, DALL·E, and Runway in the past year alone (Statista, 2024).
  • Cognitive offloading is rising: A Stanford study found that people who used AI to generate ideas became less likely to revisit or refine those ideas themselves defaulting to AI iterations instead of their own reflection.
  • Authenticity matters more than ever: Adobe’s Future of Creativity report revealed that 76% of consumers value originality over quality when engaging with creative work.
  • Cognitive overload is exponential: The average person consumes over 74GB of content daily, much of it algorithmically generated and AI-curated (UC San Diego). That’s more than 34,000 pages of text!

The opportunity in this moment isn’t to produce more but rather to reconnect with why we create in the first place.

TIPS

The shift from consumer to creator starts with small, intentional choices. These daily habits will unlock your originality:

  • Start with your inner signal, not external noise
Before you connect with technology, connect with yourself. What are you feeling? What’s unresolved? What’s catching your attention? Creation starts with observation. Take five minutes to write what’s coming up and then bring in AI to support or refine what’s already alive in you.
  • Make something small every day
Not everything you create needs to be shared. But every act of creation strengthens the muscle. Write a few lines in a journal. Record a voice memo with a fresh thought. Snap a photo that reflects your mood. The act of making keeps you connected to your intuition and reduces the default impulse to scroll.
  • Use AI to elevate your creativity
Treat AI like a creative partner, not a creative proxy. Let it polish your writing, enhance your visuals, or simulate alternatives. But don’t hand it the brush before you’ve chosen the canvas. The idea, tone, and intent should start with you. That’s what gives the output meaning and makes the tool powerful.

TOOLS

These tools are designed to keep you in the creative driver’s seat while using AI to bring your vision to life.

Runway ML

Muse AI

This spatial canvas helps you connect ideas visually and think more creatively. Use when you’re exploring early-stage concepts before turning to AI for refinement.

Descript

Turn voice memos or raw thoughts into polished media. Use when you’re expressing ideas out loud and want a seamless way to refine them into shareable form.

Gamma

Create beautiful, minimalist presentations rooted in personal insight. Use when you want to express an original idea in a visual narrative, like a manifesto or story deck.

Sudowrite

Designed to expand emotional depth, generate sensory language, and overcome creative blocks. Use when you’re writing personal essays and want to retain voice while pushing boundaries.

Are you consuming what fades or creating what endures?

Until next time...stay curious!

The Alarm Bell Nobody Rang for Women: Anthropic's AI Labor Report Decoded
Happy International Women’s Day! Today, our feeds will flood with statistics about pay equity and board seats. Those numbers matter, but now we need to confront a different set of data: one that threatens to reverse decades of hard-won progress. The Block Shock: How To Prepare for the AI Employment Reckoning
On Thursday afternoon, February 26th, the news about layoffs at Block (formerly Square) goes viral. Block’s business wasn't just healthy; it was thriving. Fourth-quarter gross profit was up 24% year-over-year, Cash App was surging, and they had just raised their full-year guidance to a staggering $12.2 billion. By every traditional metric, the company was winning. Then, CEO Jack Dorsey sent ...
Why 50% of Entry-Level Jobs Are Vanishing (And What to Do Next)
On my first day at an elite strategy consultancy, my boss looked at me and said: "Shut down your computer and go get a notepad. Thinking is a skill. And, you need to learn how to do it right." I went from freshly minted MBA confidence to the humility of an apprentice in seconds! What followed were years of repetitive, unglamorous work. Sitting in on calls I wasn't allowed to speak in.
